I Vote for Unstoppable!
Anyone else out there get a little tingly when they read this quote?
"Success is not the key to happiness, happiness is the key to success. If you love what you're doing, you will be successful. You can be good at what you have to do, or you can be unstoppable at what you aspire to do." - Unknown
What do you aspire to do?
If you're like me, sometimes you'd rather not even think about the life you want to lead, the life you should lead, the life you were born to lead.
It can be uncomfortable for us to remind ourselves that we're not living as we were meant to ... that we're living incomplete lives filled with activities, people, and events and don't quite "do it" for us. We go about our days adequately covering our obligations ... though these ritual responsibilities lend little or no passion and excitement to our existance.
I've done this for years. I thought it was the right thing to do.
I'm here to tell you that it's not ... it couldn't be more wrong.
The right thing to do is to trust and honor your passions, no matter how deep they're buried; no matter how carefully you've disguised and silenced them.Â
They are more you and yours than the boring, mediocre, and lifeless charade that you've been calling your life. Yeah, that life. The one where there's no sense of soaring and light and unbridled cries of joy. When was the last time your happiness was uncontained?
Those moments ... the ones where you truly do feel filled with yourself ... need to be carefully considered for what they contain ... for what makes them up. This is the stuff from which you need to construct your life. This is the stuff that is worth sacrificing much of everything you've ever identified with.
Pretty scary, huh?
I'm right in the middle of it. Me, the big strong guy who loathed to reveal the unsure little boy in me ... for fear that it'd expose my vulnerability and weakness.
I'm traveling from a life of certainty and routine and comfort and security (illusions!) to one that feels like a free-fall with no landing ... no place to anchor myself and nothing I can count on to be solid and real when I call it up.
But I wouldn't trade the transition for anything right now. You see, I believe that the quote above describes the only way to fly, and I'm too high up to worry about where I took off from, or what it even looks like in the place I left. And that's OK.Â
I don't know what's around the corner, but I'm excited about the mystery and wonder that lurks there. I'm not sure exactly how the journey is going to go, but I'm inspired that I'm on the path. I can tell you that the feelings of joy and fullfilment that I'm experiencing can not be bought with money, fame, power, or sex.
I love the quote above ... I love what it represents to and for me.  I hope you feel one tenth of the "tingle" that I get as you read it.
Stay tuned ... it's a long trip.Â
